Mass for pope Francis
On June 10, the premiere took place of the ‘Mass for pope Francis at the occasion of the bicentennial of the restoration of the Society of Jesus’. This mass was specially composed by an illustrious Alumnus of the Jesuits of the Istituto Massimo in Rome: Ennio Morricone. The maestro directed himself the orchestra and two choirs in the magnificent church of the Gesù in Rome, which is the mother church of the Society in the world. Several hundreds guests attended the concert, in presence of the General of the Society, Adolfo Nicolas, the Provincial of Italy, Gianfranco Matarazzo, the former President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano and the President of the World Union of Jesuit Alumni, Alain Deneef.
This beautiful music piece was recorded live by the RAI (Italian Public Radio and TV broadcaster). The main organiser of the event, together with the Italian province of the Society, was Exalmassimo, the Association of Jesuit Alumni of the Istituto Massimo of Rome, whose president Natalia Encolpio is also a member of the Council of WUJA.
