Video message of the Pope to Jesuit Alumni

Dear Friends,

Please find herewith a message delivered by video to the Jesuit Alumni gathering in Guayaquil, Ecuador (November 11-13, 2015) at the occasion of the congress of the Latin American confederation of Jesuit Alumni.

Please, bear in mind that it is a message that was spoken and not initially intended to be published.

Here is the link to the related page of the web site of the Vatican.

This message (“Do you still have the Jesuit virus?”) is a strong invitation to be ‘under creative tension’ in our nowadays world, to interrogate the signs of time and to speak up against all forms of extremism, violence and injustice.

I think that there is no better moment to do so after the terrorist attacks in Istanbul, the Sinai, Beirut, Paris and Bamako.

May our friends in the world struck by these tragedies be assured that Jesuit Alumni throughout the world are with them, as human beings, as citizens, as democrats and as Christians.

Kind regards.
