Exchange of students betweeen Burundi and India – testimonials

My name is Agathe Hatungimana.

I am from Bujumbura, Burundi. I am a student of St Joseph’s College, Darjeeling, India in Computer Application Department (BCA). I had a pretty nice and challenging experience. I struggled a lot but as it is said if u will sow crying then obviously u will reap happily. It was not easy to study as I came from a French background, but still by the God’s grace and hard word I made it possible. So I didn’t lose my hope still I practiced and got success in every university exams.

I have learned about the basic programming language C which was not at all easy to understand but with the time (in my second year) i did lots of hard work to learn the programming languages. Subjects such as data structures, microprocessor, Java, Visual Basic, Data communication and networking, Software engineering, DBMS, Oracle, SQL. And now i am planning to develop a software on Pharmaceutical Stock Management system that will be submitted as my final 6th semester project with Visual basic 6.0 as front end and back end as Microsoft Access.

Although in the 1st semester I was unable to understand very well the programming languages but still my teachers helped me a lot with my studies, they use to answer all my silly questions in polite language with patience, I thank them very much.

The course I choose is very interesting, as today’s world is totally informatic, robotic and gadgetry world and to implement all those gadgets the market now requires a software developer and i guess now this college helped me a lot to implement all of my studies and that will help me to develop a new software in future.

With a bachelor degree, it is not possible to get a good job in my country; that is the reason why i would like to go for further studies i.e. Masters. My future vision is to become a database manager (administrator) or IT agent in any IT field company.

I am thankful to JAAI (Federation of Jesuit Alumni/ae Associations of India) and in particular Mr. Naresh Gupta – President for assisting in getting admission and also for scholarship.

Thank you

I am Sonia Hakizimana, I am from Bujumbura, Burundi. I am student in Bachelor of Computer Applications (Vth Semester) at St Joseph’s College Darjeeling.

We’ve learned about Programming languages, Microprocessors, System Design and Analysis, Mathematics and many other subjects so that we may be able to write applications that are usable in day to day life. For example, for my last semester project, I’m planning to work on project about Patient Information Management System.

I have chosen Computer Applications because I want to build my career in Information Technology field since it is the fastest growing industry in today’s world.

To achieve this ambition, I need to upgrade my knowledge because the market is very competitive and a bachelor degree does not give many job opportunities.

For this reason, after my graduation, I need to continue with Master Degree in Software and if possible, I would like to go for training in an IT company.

Finally, I will go back to my country, with enough knowledge and eligible to most of IT related jobs that are available such as Database Administrator or programmer in an organization, teacher in a college and others.

I am thankful to JAAI (Federation of Jesuit Alumni/ae Associations of India) and in particular Mr. Naresh Gupta – President for assisting in getting admission and also for scholarship.

Thank you

My name is Lina-Olivia, I am from Bujumbura, Burundi. I am a student of St Joseph’s College, Darjeeling, India, in BBA 4th Semester.

Our main subjects are: Account, Business & Company, Law, Human Resources, Marketing, Financial management, Entrepreneurship.

As well as the use of technology in Business today and in this subject we learn how to use Tally software and how to make presentations etc.

I have chosen BBA because I have been always interested to do business. And in today’s world people are most attracted by Business.

From my experiences, BBA gave me an opportunity to stand in front of the people and talk freely without being scared and convince them by sharing with them my topic.

Our college used to organize some Management Tour where we visit some factories. In our Tour we got a chance to visit Zydus which produce pharmaceutical products and Wai-Wai factory, these two factories are in Sikkim.

We also have a Management Club, which is composed by BBA students; this club organizes inter departmental competition, big Events. The most popular Event is JMC which signifies Joseph Management Convent where we invite other Colleges to compete through games for getting the first place. In this Event we learn many things and develop our skills, our way of communication, we also get a chance of exchanging ideas as well as knowledge, as they learn from us we also learn from them.

After completing my Bachelor I really want to go for further studies like Master in Business Administration and at the same time if possible to get some training which will make me eligible to afford the corporate world and get nice and suitable placement in my country.

I am thankful to JAAI (Federation of Jesuit Alumni/ae Associations of India) and in particular Mr. Naresh Gupta – President for assisting in getting admission and also for scholarship.
