A Call to Conscience and Peace

From the World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA)

We follow with deep sorrow the escalation of violence in the Middle East.
We cannot remain indifferent.

Through our close contact with Jesuit communities and Alumni in the region,
we are direct witnesses to the suffering on the ground,
affecting both Christians and Muslims alike.
Fear has no religion.

Every innocent life lost, every family displaced, every child gripped by fear
is not a distant tragedy : it is an assault on our shared humanity.

As Jesuit alumni around the world, we are called to act.
Faith demands justice. Hope calls us to responsibility.

We affirm with conviction that violence never leads to peace.
The dignity of every human person, regardless of nation, religion, or identity,
is sacred.

Enough.
Enough of war. Enough of fear. Enough of indifference.

We call on leaders, nations, and all people of goodwill
to choose dialogue over destruction, courage over revenge.

Peace is not naïve; it is the very demand of justice.

Let us unite in prayer that leads to action,
in compassion that becomes commitment.

May our shared humanity prevail.
May peace take root and endure.
