WUJA Statement of support for the Holy Father
from Jesuit alumni around the World
The World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA) expresses its filial and respectful support for His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in the face of the disparaging remarks and lack of respect directed at him in the public sphere in recent days, following his appeals for peace, human dignity, and the moral responsibility of leaders.
Faithful to the education we received in Jesuit institutions, we know that our actions cannot be separated from conscience, and commitment to the service the others.
When the Holy Father recalls the sacred value of every human life, the urgency of dialogue, and the need to choose peace over violence, his words call for attentive listening, seriousness, and respect.
WUJA reaffirms that respect due to Pope Leo XIV rises above political divisions. It touches our understanding of dignity, truth, and responsibility in public discourse.
We call upon Jesuit alumni, as well as all members of our global Community, to remain united in prayer, fraternity and fidelity to the values that have been passed on to us.
