THE JAAI AWARDS 2026: WHEN RECOGNIZING SUCCESS WEAVES A STRONGER NETWORK IN INDIA

GOA, INDIA – It’s not just a trophy. It’s a brilliant strategy. While many networks struggle to stay cohesive, the Jesuit Alumni Association of India (JAAI) has perfected a powerful formula for growth: turning best practices into a common good, rewarding excellence, and, in the process, multiplying it across a subcontinent. The culmination of this effort was on full display at the 11th JAAI Summit in Goa, where the 2026 award winners were celebrated, and WUJA President Francisco Guarner joined as Chief Guest.
This year’s JAAI Awards, a triennial institution, once again proved their goal is as simple as it is effective “To recognize exceptional work and inspire everyone to align with our mission.” But their design is the genius part, structuring recognition to build the network itself.
THREE CATEGORIES, ONE INTEGRAL MISSION
The awards don’t just seek the “best project.” They are engineered to foster specific, network-strengthening behaviors:
Pure Social Impact: The Social Champion Award went to the St. Aloysius College Alumni Association, Mangalore honoring direct, quantifiable benefits to vulnerable communities.
Giving Back to the Alma Mater: This category saw multiple winners.
The Delhi Old Xaverians Association received the Evolving Education Award for sustainable academic initiatives, while the Alumni Association of Ex Loyola Network, Pune won the Landmark Legacy Award for a transformative one-time contribution. St. Joseph’s University Alumni Association, Bangalore, took the Glory to Alma Mater Award for generating outstanding positive recognition for their institution.
3. The Fabric of the Network: Here, collaboration and collective spirit are literally rewarded. St. Xavier’s Alumni Association, Patna, was a double winner, earning the Success in Synergy Award for cross-association collaboration and the Power Province Award. The Loyola Alumni Association, Jamshedpur again clinched the Supporting Spirit Award for aiding the growth of a fellow association, and the Madurai Province was hailed as the Congress Champion Province.
A MODEL RECOGNIZED ON THE GLOBAL STAGE
The summit was also a moment of global fellowship and recognition. Following his address as Chief Guest at the closing ceremony on February 8th, WUJA President Mr. Francisco Guarner was honored by JAAI leaders. This gesture underscored the deep mutual respect and shared mission between the national federation and the global union, highlighting how local excellence fuels worldwide solidarity.

FROM INDIA TO THE WORLD
Why does WUJA look with such interest at this model? Because it responds pragmatically to a universal illness: fragmentation. The JAAI Awards create a virtuous circle: recognition motivates, success stories from Mangalore to Patna are studied and replicated, and the entire network levels up. It’s a masterclass in institutional growth, demonstrating that the most sustainable way to build a global family is to celebrate and connect the excellence thriving within its national homes.
