WUJA Congress 2026: Jesuit Alumni to Gather in Yogyakarta for Landmark Meeting

YOGYAKARTA, INDONESIA – The World Union of Jesuit Alumni (WUJA) will host its 11th World Congress from July 29 to August 2, 2026, at Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Anchored in the theme “United in Spirit, Leading with Purpose”, the event will bring together alumni leaders, Jesuit educators, and institutional representatives from around the world to strengthen global networks and deepen their shared Ignatian mission.

This Congress will mark a significant milestone: the 70th anniversary of WUJA serving as both a festive reunion and a dynamic platform for collective reflection and strategic action. Attendees will participate in plenary sessions, workshops, and immersive cultural experiences—including an opening Mass at the Javanese-style Ganjuran Church and a gala dinner at the majestic Prambanan Temple.

Key objectives:

  • Drafting a Jesuit Alumni Identity Manifesto.
  • Developing a framework for sustainable collaboration between alumni associations and Jesuit institutions.
  • Launching tangible, cross-border service projects rooted in Ignatian principles.

In preparation, a series of Pre-Congress regional forums are been organized across continents to ensure that the congress agenda reflects diverse voices, local contexts, and emerging priorities.

Early bird registration is now open until December 2025, with special rates available for young alumni under 35.

This Congress is far more than an event; it is a call to action. As Superior General of the Society of Jesus reminds us: Jesuit alumni are not just graduates they are lifelong partners in mission. Yogyakarta, a city where faith and culture have long intertwined through Jesuit heritage, offers the perfect backdrop for this next chapter of global Ignatian collaboration.
