Our commitment to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV
Dear alumnae and alumni of Jesuit institutions around the world,
With renewed hope, we share with you the joyful news of the election of Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost. As the first American Pope in history and the first pontiff from the Order of Saint Augustine, he succeeds Pope Francis, thus perpetuating the momentum of a Church reaching out to the peripheries, committed to peace, justice, and fraternity.
In his inaugural message, Pope Leo XIV issued a vibrant call for peace, proclaiming: “Peace be with you all!” He also paid a moving tribute to Pope Francis, recalling that his predecessor had offered his blessing to the entire world on that Easter morning, at the dawn of his entrance into the eternal dwelling of the Father.
“God loves us, God loves all of us, and evil will not prevail”
This is the message of hope that the Holy Father addresses us, inviting us to move forward together, without fear, united in faith and charity.
As alumnae and alumni of Jesuit institutions, we express our filial support to this new shepherd of the Church and our commitment to walk by his side, guided by the light of the Gospel.
May his pontificate be guided by the Holy Spirit, and may it be a time of grace, upholding the values dear to us: service, compassion and justice at the heart of the world.
Ad maiorem Dei gloriam,
