Called to Reconnect, Sent to Serve
A Global Gathering, A Common Mission
July 31, 2025
Dear Jesuit Alumni Family,
Today, as we commemorate St. Ignatius of Loyola, we pause not merely to honor a saint, but to rekindle the fire he ignited in the world—a call to find God in all things, to walk with hope even in darkness.
St Ignatius taught us that true freedom is born when we surrender who we are—our fragility, dreams, our struggles—to something greater than ourselves. His legacy is not a static monument but a living river that unites us across continents, cultures, and generations.
In this spirit of MAGIS and discernment, we extend an invitation that feels particularly urgent today: the WUJA World Congress 2026, to be held from July 29 to August 2, 2026, at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
This gathering will be a space to reconnect, share our journeys and challenges, and reimagine together how to live Ignatian spirituality in a fractured world. Yogyakarta—a cradle of tradition, art, and interfaith dialogue—is the perfect symbol of what we seek: a place where East and West embrace, where faith becomes a bridge.
Amidst the sacred temples of Borobudur and the vibrant energy of the city’s streets, we will reflect on how to be “contemplatives in action” in response to today’s urgent calls: social justice, ecology, and peacebuilding.
Why does this Congress need you?
Because the Jesuit Alumni is not just a network – we are a community of hearts. Every missing voice leaves a gap in our collective discernment.
We want to hear your voice, your questions, your resilient joy.
We want to pray together, celebrate the Eucharist in many languages, and let the Spirit surprise us, as He once did with Ignatius on the roads of Manresa.

This Congress will not be just another event. It will be a turning point—a call to rekindle our identity as men and women for others, aware that mission springs from authentic encounter.
We await you with open arms, as brothers and sisters, ready to write the next chapter of our shared story.
May the example of St Ignatius inspire us to say with courage: “Forward”!
See you in Yogyakarta!
With fraternal warmth,
The WUJA Team
